Lausanne as Olympic Capital has played host to a lot of international events like European or Worlds championship (badminton, curling, figure skating or Ice hockey) just to name a few.

Jointly with political authorities from the great Lausanne area and the canton, the city of Lausanne has follow a politic of strongly supporting the sport and specially the sport for young people. The Christmas Cup is part of this effort to offer to the new generation the possibility to meet international competitors and pursue excellence in sport as well as developing respect for other culture.
